Ferry SF ("the app") is a fan-made companion for Golden Gate Ferry riders. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District.
No account or sign-in is required. The app does not create user profiles on our servers.
Location (when-in-use) is used only on your device to suggest the nearest ferry terminal and to center the map (including optional Follow Me). Your location is never transmitted to our backend or sold to third parties.
The free (non-Pro) experience may show banner ads via Google AdMob on the Schedule tab. To support more relevant ads, the app may request permission under Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework. If you allow tracking, AdMob may use the device advertising identifier (IDFA) and related ad data for personalized advertising, which Apple defines as tracking. If you deny tracking, ads may still appear in a limited / non-personalized form when available.
FerrySF Pro subscribers do not see the banner ad. Ad-related data is handled by Google according to Google’s policies; we do not sell your personal information.
The app communicates with a backend at ferry-sf.fly.dev to fetch public transit data:
These API requests are not used to build advertising profiles. Infrastructure logs on Fly.io are retained for a short period for operations.
FerrySF Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription (monthly or yearly) processed entirely by Apple. It unlocks unlimited live map access and removes ads. The app does not receive or store your payment card details. Manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
The app does not knowingly collect data from children under 13 for the purpose of creating profiles. Parents should use device controls for tracking and purchases as appropriate.
